Private Course Offerings - Proper Paws Dog Training provides one on one customized training, the courses below are designed with flexibility in mind and each client's needs are incorporated into the course work as needed. Private courses are now available either in your home or at my training center located at 20 Beharrell St in Concord.Pre-Puppy/Pre-Adoption Preparation - A 90 minute session designed for those who are getting ready to or thinking about getting a puppy or bringing a dog home from a rescue/shelter. Get your questions answered before your puppy/rescue dog comes in the door!
Puppy Kindergarten - A group of 5 one hour long sessions for your new puppy this course includes help with house training, crate training and basic puppy skills including sit, down, stay and come as well as how to deal with common puppy behavioral issues. It is designed for puppies as young as 8 weeks and as old as 5 months and develops a good foundation for your dog's development.
Beginner Obedience - For puppies and dogs over 6 months, this is a basic obedience class and will begin the learning process with your older puppy or dog. Skills taught include; sit, down, stay, come, leash work, touch and watch. This is the foundation course particularly designed for newly rescued dogs and/or older puppies who haven't had any formal training yet. It is a 6 week course course is a rolling admission course. I highly recommend enrolling in the hybrid option for this class as often newly rescued and older puppies have existing issues that are best addressed in individual sessions.
Graduate Puppy - A 5 session follow up to Puppy Kindergarten designed for those people who have completed Puppy Kindergarten class (it doesn't have to be mine), and would like to ensure the skills their dogs have learned, stick. There will be additional skills to learn as well as polishing sit, down, stay, come and leash walking. Depending on your progress, some of these classes may be held in public areas.
Therapy Dog Test Prep - This course will help you and your dog prepare for the TDI test, it covers all aspects of the TDI test as well as real world practice. Course length varies on your dog's current skills.
Single Session Consultations - If your dog has one or two issues that you'd like to address, sessions can be scheduled on an individual basis.
Group Class Offereing - These 6 week classes are now being offered at 20 Beharrell St in Concord! All group classes are 6 weeks in length and cost $160. Group classes are rolling admission, begin when you want to!
Puppy Kindergarten (level 1) - For puppies younger than 6 months, this is a basic Puppy K class and will begin the learning process with your puppy. Skills taught include; sit, down, stay, come, leash work, touch and watch. This is the foundation course for your new puppy. It is a 6 week course course is a rolling admission course.Graduate Puppy (level 2) - For those puppies who have mastered the basic skills of sit, down, stay, come and leash manners in a non-distracting environment and are now ready to be challenged with a group setting I now offer a group Graduate Puppy Class. This class is a practice class to proof all the basic skills in more and more challenging environments. The course is game based, fast paced and scattered with real time scenario practice. Pre-req: Puppy K or Beginner Obedience
Master Puppy (level 3) - designed for the adolescent and young adult dogs who have attained fluency with basic skills with distractions who now want to learn upper level skills with high levels of distraction with the goal of off leash control. This class focuses on developing fluency in public and/or with major distractions. These sessions may be held outside and the indoor portion will focus on off leash control.
Canine Good Citizen - This class is for anyone interested in preparing for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Course work will closely follow the CGC test , testing will be offered periodically through the Winter and Spring at separate times. Pre-req: Puppy K or Beg Obedience, Graduate Puppy recommended.
Rally - For new and returning Rally enthusiasts. Rally Obedience is a sport designed for the companion dog that emphasizes team work on leash. For more information on AKC Rally Obedience click here
Wag it Games - This is a fun class for dogs and people and combines elements of Rally, Agility, Nose Work, trick training and Trieball in a fun, companion dog friendly format. You can learn more about Wag it Games at click here. I am a certified Wag it Games instructor.
Adventure Class- This is a group class for dogs who consistently come when called off leash. (Prerequisite: Manners 1 or Private evaluation with Judy) We work on developing long distance cues as well as improving responses to basic cues in real world situations. This is an outdoor, group adventure with the dogs off leash! This class will meet rain/snow or shine so dress appropriately!
